Sometimes the best opportunities are the ones you never saw coming.

Originally from Lebanon, Clarisse had returned to Canada after things didn’t work out back home. Determined not to go back to Montreal, she made a spontaneous move to Vancouver, with plans to pursue yoga instructor certification. Her course wasn’t set to start until January, so she needed a job to fill the gap.

“I came across a listing for a Game Presenter role,” Clarisse recalls. “I thought I’d be playing games from home on my laptop and earning money. I thought, ‘Well, that sounds fun!’ So I applied.”

She didn’t expect much—certainly not an interview, let alone the world she was about to step into. When she arrived at the Evolution building for her interview, everything changed.

“I had no idea it was such a major company,” she says. “The recruiter took me on a walk through the studio space, and I started to get it. I went home and told my mom, ‘I think I won the lottery.’”

She was right.

What started as a short-term gig quickly turned into a fast-track career. Within three months, Clarisse became a Team Manager. Not long after, she was promoted to Senior Team Manager, and then—right before the launch of the Burnaby studio—offered the role of Acting Operations Manager.

“I was so stressed,” Clarisse says. “You’re jumping steps, and I didn’t fully know what I needed to succeed. But I trusted what I’d learned over my time at Evolution. You pick up the pace, the expectations, and most importantly, you learn how to lead.”

She credits the team around her as a major part of her success. “If I had to choose a team to go to Burnaby with, it would have been the exact people they picked. That made all the difference.”

Clarisse’s journey is a testament to the power of being open, adaptable, and driven. She came to Evolution looking for a temporary job—and found a career she never imagined.

“I thought I was just filling time before yoga school,” she laughs. “But Evolution became the career I didn’t know I was looking for.”
