Welcome to Evolution Madrid!
It should take you 5 minutes max to read. Please go through all the information below.
Flying to Madrid
This highly depends on when you are arriving, although, we suggest you pack a bit of everything, just to be sure.
Check the forecast weather a few days before arriving to Madrid, so you can make sure to pack the right clothes.
In Madrid you will experience quite different temperatures in summer and winter. The most pleasant warm weather lasts between April and June when average temperatures are between 20 and 32 degrees Celsius. In July and August, it can get very hot with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius. However, the climate in Madrid is very low in humidity, therefore making the high temperatures easier to tolerate. The weather is predominantly dry, but during the winter it does rain, and sometimes even snow, although it is just a dusting of snow.
For your first month in Madrid, PLEASE BRING ENOUGH MONEY (consider roughly €1500 per person if you are sharing room or around 3000€ if you want to live alone as you will need to pay deposit, agency fee, etc.). This is a rough estimation, and we can’t give you a confirmed cost, and remind you that your first salary will arrive at the end of the month.
Inform your bank that you are leaving the country. This will allow you to continue using your credit cards and debit cards without the fraud detection on your accounts being triggered, preventing you from using your cards.

– Agency fee of one month rent +21%VAT (if applicable).
Please note that these payments are required before signing the lease contract.
Some considerations when renting a property:
– Properties in Madrid are pricey.
– Good and low budget properties are not easily found and can be rented very quickly.
– Most lease contracts require a minimum period of a year, although a 6 month period is also getting a common practice.Lease contracts can be renewed automatically every year for a maximum of 5 – 7 years.
– Utilities (gas, water electricity) will have to be paid separately over and above the cost of the monthly rent. These are usually metered and you normally pay for what you use.
Internet is most of the time not included in the rent and will have to be contracted separately.
– Furnished properties will not be necessarily fully equipped with plates, sheets, towels etc. but will usually have house hold appliances. However, dryers are not very common at all in Spain.
– Communal swimming pools are normally open from mid-June to mid-September.
